South Korean fried chicken brand Pelicana has confirmed it will launch its second London site in the Angel Central shopping centre in Islington.

Set over two floors, the 2,172sq ft space will hold 80 covers.

Pelicana has more than 2,000 locations in South Korea and also operates a number of sites outside the country in locations including Mainland China, Malaysia and the US.

Its UK rollout is being led by Wasabi founder Dong Hyun Kim, who has the UK master franchise agreement for the brand and is understood to be planning significant expansion of the concept.

The group opened its first London site in Hammersmith back in April, and further London openings have been mooted in Wimbledon and Clapham Junction.

“Islington’s Angel Central is the perfect location to continue our growth within the UK," says Kim

"Pelicana is a brand that delivers great taste and stays true to its roots, and we are confident that Angel Central’s shoppers and diners will enjoy our recipes, as we establish ourselves within the Islington community.”

Key products to feature on the Pelicana menu include various types of coated, deep-fried, bone-in chicken - including regular, seasoned chicken, garlic chicken, and hot chilli chicken - boneless chicken and wings.
