Hilton’s long-awaited The Gantry hotel in London's Stratford has opened today (11 November).

Located directly in front of Stratford International station, the 291 room 'design-led' hotel is spread over 17 floors and features a ground floor artisan food market; a restaurant; cocktail bars with dedicated open-air terraces; and a flexible event space.

Called Union Social, the first floor restaurant is described as the 'hotel’s vibrant heart' and will serve an all-day menu with a global edge that's intended to be reflective of London’s dynamic food scene.

The menu will include small plates like Bottega’s cured cuts with fresh cheese, and prawn croquettes with aioli; as well as larger, sharing options such as tarragon risotto with roasted autumnal vegetables; sesame glazed sea trout with white miso tamari-mirin infused ginger broth; and Greek lamb meatballs with tzatziki, pickled red onion and pine nuts.

Union Social will be flanked on one side with a cocktail bar called Coupe, which will have its own banquette seating and outdoor terrace and serve an ever-changing drinks menu that will champion English sparkling wine, and feature a list of sparkling cocktails and spritzes curated by Walter Pintus.

The Gantry will sit above The Stratford Grocer & Co.’s food market, deli and coffee shop, which is set to open fully by mid-January and will offer a selection of produce for guests to take home including deli items, and a large selection of wines, beers, and spirits handpicked by the team.

With a silhouette inspired by New York’s famous Flat Iron building, The Gantry’s design is influenced by industrial Victorian East London and Stratford’s historical role in the city’s train building industry.

It will feature what is billed as the 'highest rooftop bar in east London' when it opens its eighteenth floor bar in spring 2022.

The opening of The Gantry was first announced back in early 2018.

It is the fourth property within the Hilton’s ‘upper upscale’ Curio Collection in London, and will be managed by Saurabh Kukreja, a seasoned hotelier with experience in managing luxury and lifestyle hotels in UK, Thailand, and the Philippines.
