London-based pizzeria group Zia Lucia has chosen Balham for its sixth site.

Claudio Vescovo and Gianluca D’Angelo launched their first Zia Lucia site in 2016 on Holloway Road offering four different types of dough (traditional white flour, wholemeal, gluten free and vegetable charcoal black base).

Further sites have followed in Wembley, Wandsworth, Hammersmith and Aldgate East.

On 65 Balham High Road, the new site will offer pizzas priced at £7 to £13 with topping including nduja, spicy spianata salami, truffle sauce, honey, burrata, gorgonzola and roasted pepperoni.

Alongside the pizzas is a selection of Italian-style starters, plates and desserts with the drinks menu focusing on the company’s own beer brand Birra Cabriole.

Vescovo and D’Angelo recently combined their pasta restaurant Berto with their original Zia Luca site on Holloway Road to create a new pizza and pasta concept, Berto and Zia.

Zia Lucia recently launched a pizza school at its Boxpark Wembley location that aims to train pizzaiolos up within six weeks ahead of guaranteed employment at the London-based group.

Open to people of all cooking abilities, the school has been established to address the shortfall of pizza chefs caused by the rapid growth of Neapolitan pizza in London, Brexit and the pandemic.
