Yotam Ottolenghi has chosen Chelsea’s Pavilion Road for his sixth Ottolenghi deli.

Launching in January, the site will be one of his largest Ottolenghis yet with a ‘local design twist’ and newly-developed dishes.

Overseen by head chef Elaine Goad, the new site will be open for morning coffees, pastries and breakfast at 8am through to 7pm every day apart from Sunday (9am-5pm), with guests invited to grab a bite to eat at the expansive communal table or at smaller two-tops dotted around the room.

The kitchen will serve a concise menu of signature Ottolenghi hot dishes every morning, such as scrambled eggs with London-cured salmon, focaccia, mixed leaves and crème fraiche; and French toast with mixed berry jam and orange yoghurt, before moving onto lunch, where the main action will take place from the white counter.

From 11am, daily changing salads like advieh spiced vermicelli rice with pickled mango, herbs and rice salad and roasted sweet potato with lime and cardamom sauce, along with mains of grilled Loch Duart salmon with tartare sauce; and sweet potato, chard and cashew nut fritter with red hummus.

Interior design features include a bold terrazzo floor and ‘a celebration of plaster’ made from recycled bricks – wrapping around the room to give a gentle, rounded sensation.

Baked goods might include the classic caramelised white chocolate and macadamia cookie; and tangerine and pistachio mini loaf with yuzu icing.

Ottolenghi and his business partner Noam Bar launched their first deli in Notting Hill in 2002. They also together operate Rovi and Nopi.
