Cornwall-based chef Nathan Outlaw has released 300 limited edition Save our Breakwater lunches at his flagship restaurant Outlaw’s New Road to help prevent Port Isaac’s breakwaters falling into disrepair.

The lunches are on sale for £100 per table of two, with £40 from each purchase going to the Port Isaac Harbour Commission.

The voucher includes a set 3-course lunch for two and entry into a raffle to win a day in the kitchen with Nathan Outlaw prepping, cooking, and eating fish.

Earlier this week the Port Isaac Harbour Commission launched a GoFundMe page, appealing to locals and lovers of Port Isaac alike, to raise the “eye-watering” fees required to undertake a survey of and repair the village’s main line of defence against rising tides, and ever more frequent storms.

The Port Isaac Harbour Repairs GoFundMe page reads: “In recent years the commercial boats in Port Isaac have depleted from around ten to just two. If there are no commercial boats left in the harbour there will be no one around to look after the infrastructure and it will be only a matter of time until the breakwaters fall into disrepair and, with sea levels rising, the bottom of the village will be regularly flooded and become unsustainable and uninsurable.”

At the time of writing the page had raised £37,571 off a target of £60,000.

Outlaw said: “We feel a direct responsibility to support the upkeep of the Port Isaac harbour, and the fishing community which has given us so much over the years. We’re incredibly proud to have two restaurants in Port Isaac, and not only do we feel the need to preserve the village’s flood defences, but we would also love to see more fishing vessels back in the harbour, sustaining the traditions of this great fishing port.”

Vouchers can be purchased via Outlaw’s website and are available to redeem throughout February and March.
