Storm Eunice forces Deliveroo and Uber Eats to suspend services

Deliveroo and Uber Eats have both suspended services across parts of the country in response to the impact of Storm Eunice, which is currently battering much of the UK.

A red warning for wind is currently in place for London, the South East and parts of the east of England, and has also been issued for coastal parts of south Wales and south-west England.

In both London and Brighton both Deliveroo and Uber Eats services are currently suspended, and the Daily Mail reportsthat both platforms confirmed they have temporarily shut down in areas affected by the red weather warnings.

A note on the Deliveroo app reads: "In the interest of keeping riders safe, our service is not available at the moment due to a red weather warning. We’ll be available again as soon as it’s safe to do so."

A Deliveroo spokesperson says: "In the interest of keeping riders safe, Deliveroo's service is not available in London and the South East or Wales and areas of the South West at the moment due to the red weather warning and adverse conditions.

"We will continue to monitor the situation and remain in close contact with our partners and riders to let them know when we plan to reopen these areas."

On the Uber Eats app, a note reads: "For courier safety, our delivery service is currently unavailable due to a weather alert."

It would appear, in London at least, that online food order and delivery service Just Eat is currently continuing to process orders, but a note on the website warns that the adverse weather conditions mean that deliveries 'might take a little longer than usual'.
