Liverpool-based group Red & Blue Restaurants has taken over Libby’s Bread & Wine in Cheshire’s Marple Bridge.

The restaurant, bakery and coffee house is the now five-strong group’s first site outside Liverpool, where it operates the Salt House Tapas, Hanover Street Social, Bacaro and Bouchon restaurants.

With the addition of Libby’s to the group’s portfolio turnover is forecast to be in excess of £8.5m this year.

“We’re really pleased to add Libby’s as a going concern to the group. It’s near to where I live so I know it well and have always loved going there,” says R&B Restaurants co-founder Paddy Smith.

”We look forward to building on the strong reputation Libby’s has enjoyed down the years and adding our experience of three decades in running successful, independent hospitality businesses just like Libby’s.

Smith’s business partner added that despite inflationary pressures demand remained strong and that further expansion was on the cards.

The new site coincides with the promotion of Caryn Philip to operations director. Philip has worked in the hospitality industry for more than 20 years and has been a director at the group since 2010.
