Edmund Weil and Rosie Stimpson are to open a second, more central, location of their popular bar Nightjar next month.

The sequel to the Shoreditch bar will open in Kingly Court in Soho in April in an eighty-five-cover basement site, according to trade magazine Class.

Revealing the news on Instagram, the bar said that people should “expect all the swagger of Shoreditch with the style and sauce of Soho”.

The original Nightjar, which is owned by Speakeasy Entertainment, opened in Shoreditch in 2011 and quickly gained a following for its approach of bringing old school glamour to east London.

The bar is known for breathing new life into forgotten cocktails and bringing new perspectives to classic recipes and serves an extensive list of cocktails alongside a range of vintage spirits.

Cocktails are divided into different sections based on periods in history, including pre-prohibition (1600-1918) with creations from the likes of bartenders Jerry Thomas and Harry Johnson; and prohibition (1918- 1932); and post war (1940-200). It also serves its own range of signature cocktails such as Name of the Samurai, and a Nightjar pisco sour.

“We always had ambitions to extend the Nightjar brand,” Weil told Class. “But for a long time we were looking in the wrong place. We were looking overseas.”
