Gladwin brothers to launch sixth London restaurant in Wimbledon
Less than six months after the launch of The Fat Badger in Richmond, the London-based restaurateurs have taken over the former White Onion restaurant in Wimbledon Village and will relaunch it as The Black Sheep in May.
Marking their sixth London restaurant, the bistro-style concept will aim to bring locals a taste of the traditional British dining concept the brother have established across their estate.
Executive chef Oliver Gladwin will oversee the kitchen, with the daily-changing menu utilising 'the best of wild and British produce with seasonality at the forefront'.
The wine list will champion English wines from the Gladwin's family vineyard in West Sussex, alongside wines from across the globe housed in their basement wine cellar. The brothers have also partnered with The Wimbledon Wine School, offering WSET courses.
“With the momentum from our recent opening in Richmond behind us, we’re excited to expand our neighbourhood offering in Wimbledon,” says Richard Gladwin.
“We have established and nurtured such fantastic relationships with farmers across the country and look forward to showcasing even more of their produce in our new restaurant. It’s great to be fighting back post-pandemic and giving people an excuse to dine out again and enjoy the season’s harvest over a glass of wine.”
Located on Wimbledon High Street, the 65-cover restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner, and feature a private dining room.
The Gladwin brothers opened their first London restaurant, The Shed , in Notting Hill in 2012. They followed that with Rabbit on the Kings Road in 2014; Nutbourne in Battersea in 2016; and Sussex in Soho in 2019.
