Hotel group Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland is to rebrand its Jurys Inn hotels to Leonardo Hotels as part of its growth strategy.

The group, which operate 51 hotels - 46 in the UK and five in Ireland – will rebrand its 35 Jurys Inn hotels in the UK and Ireland under the Leonardo brand,

Jurys Inn joined the Fattal Hotel Group in 2017 and has been operating under the Jurys Inn and Leonardo brand across the UK and Ireland since then. The Fattal Hotel Group has a portfolio of 200 hotels in more than 100 destinations in Europe and Israel and has been active across Europe since 2006.

The group is in the process of developing several new and existing sites across the UK, with plans to open a 125-bedroom boutique NYX Hotel next year in Edinburgh’s Old Town and for a 100-bedroom extension to the rebranded Leonardo Hotel that it connects with.

Opening this spring is a new Leonardo Hotel in Manchester with a ‘Jenga-inspired’ block exterior and wild greenery draped throughout its unique design. The hotel also features a ground floor restaurant, cafe bar, and entertaining terrace area connecting to a new public square in Piccadilly East.

The group has also opened Leonardo Hotels in Bristol and Chester in the past year

“We believe that the most effective way to achieve our exciting ambitions and growth plans for the business is to rebrand Jurys Inn to the Leonardo brand – combining the key elements of the Jurys Inn operating platform with the existing Leonardo brand design and expanding reputation,” says Jason Carruthers, managing director of Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland.

“With this rebranding programme, Leonardo Hotels will accelerate its momentum as one of the fastest growing brands in Europe and strengthen our position as one of the UK and Ireland’s leading hotel groups – offering 51 unique destinations to our local and international guests. The Leonardo brand identity will also be refreshed across the entire Group, making it more contemporary and engaging.”

“Beyond this rebranding programme, we have very ambitious plans to continue growing our footprint in the UK and Ireland through new acquisitions and developments, along with some enhancements across our range of products and services.”

Over the past four years, Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland, invested just under £100m in new openings and fully refurbishing a number of hotels. This refurbishment programme included 926 bedrooms across its Jurys Inn hotels in Croydon and Exeter, and Leonardo hotels at London Heathrow, Edinburgh Murrayfield and Leonardo Royal Hotel in Southampton.

Following its takeover of the Manchester Midland hotel in 2018, the group invested £13.9m in the venue.

Its Leonardo Royal Hotels at London City, Tower Bridge, and St Paul’s, and NYX Hotel London Holborn have received £34.5m to upgrade more than 1,300 bedrooms across the four hotels – including refurbishment of public areas and the buildings condition.

The investment includes the roll out of new bar and restaurant concepts NYX Eat Drink Play and Leo’s as well as rooftop bar Sabine on the 7th floor of Leonardo Royal Hotel London St Paul’s.
