D&D London is to revive The Modern Pantry restaurant with a new location close to its original site.

The company is understood to be reopening the much-loved Clerkenwell restaurant at The Zetter Hotel, just across from The Modern Pantry’s St John’s Square location.

The restaurant was launched by chef Anna Hansen in partnership with D&D London in 2008 and received critical acclaim for its fusion menu that focused on global cuisine and which was inspired by the home countries of the chefs that work there.

A second The Modern Pantry followed in Finsbury Square in 2015 but close after just two years in business.

Hansen left the restaurant after over a decade in 2019 with Robert Mcleary, who had been head chef at the business for the past five years, taking over as executive chef. The Clerkenwell restaurant closed in 2020 because of the various lockdowns and D&D later announced that it would not reopen in the current location due to the expiry of the lease.

A message on its website states: ‘Rob and the team are sad to leave St John’s Square behind but are already exploring alternative sites. Please keep your eyes peeled for more information soon. Thank you for your ongoing support and we cannot wait to welcome you back.’
