D&D London is to overhaul the bar space adjacent to its riverside restaurant Le Pont de la Tour and relaunch it as a new 'relaxed' bistro concept.

Le Pont de la Tour Bistrot will open in early May and will seat 32 inside with a further 24 covers available on the terrace, which will overlook the Thames and Tower Bridge.

The menu, overseen by Le Pont de la Tour executive chef Tony Fleming, will be inspired by classic French bistros and brasseries and feature 'regional French fare at accessible prices'.

Starters will include a selection of oysters and shellfish, alongside the likes of warm Comté gougères; mussel and saffron soup; and pig’s head terrine.

Mains, meanwhile, will include duck confit with peas à la française, honey and Madeira; morel omelette with fines herbs and petit salad; and saddleback pork belly with boudin noir and white asparagus.

There will also be a range of daily specials such as rabbit parmentier on Tuesdays; ray wing au poivre on Wednesdays; and roast sirloin of Cumbrian beef on Sundays.

Desserts will include tarte au citron; crème caramel; and a selection of French cheeses.

The restaurant will also serve a concise wine list created by head sommelier Michele Orbolato, and a range of 'signature' cocktails including The Garden of Eden with cardamom-infused Tanqueray, Galliano, Cointreau, caramel, ginger ale; Save the Bees with Woodford Reserve, sage syrup and honey; and Midnight Stroll, made with Bulleit, Campari, Fernet and Cointreau.

It comes in the same week that BigHospitality revealed D&D is to revive its much-loved Clerkenwell restaurant The Modern Pantry in new location close to its original site.

D&D was also reported earlier this week to be preparing to undergo a sale process, which could value the group at £100m.

Led by Des Gunewardena, D&D operates more than 40 restaurants worldwide, principally in London.
