MasterChef winner Kenny Tutt will replace his Ox Block concept at Brighton’s Shelter Hall food hall with burger brand Patty Guy early next month.

The move does not spell the end for the robata grill-focused concept, however, with Ox Block set to move over to the Harvey’s brewery-owned Lord Nelson Inn in Brighton’s North Laine area.

Launching later this summer, the kitchen will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week offering the likes of sirloin steak sandwich with Harvey’s beer braised onions, mustard mayo, Barber’s cheddar and rocket; gunpowder chicken, and deep-fried Oreo.

Patty Guy follows the success of Tutt’s burger specials at Ox Block and will focus on smashed burgers and milkshakes.

“This is more than a dream come true for me,” Tutt tells BigHospitality.

“Ox Block has been so popular with locals and tourists across Brighton, so I’m thrilled to be able to build on this with a wonderful new partnership with Harvey’s. It’s the Sussex brewery, and Lord Nelson Inn is one of my favourite Brighton pubs, what could be better than that?

“Working with Shelter Hall over the last couple of years, and being a founder trader there with Ox Block has been amazing, so it made sense for us to team up on Patty Guy when we saw the success of the burgers we were putting on the menu. I don’t think you can beat an excellent burger with all the right trimmings, so I can’t wait to launch Patty Guy too.”

The two new Brighton projects will bring Tutt up to four sites, joining his Worthing flagship restaurant Pitch and the more recently opened Bayside Social (also in Worthing).

Shelter Hall launched in Brighton in 2020 during the pandemic as Shelter Hall Raw before relaunching in a more finished state as Shelter Hall in 2021.
