Birmingham-based chef Andrew Sheridan is to launch a 16-seater 'neighbourhood' restaurant in the Worcestershire village of Barnt Green.

Set to launch on the 9 June, Black and Green will be part of About Dining Group, which is owned by Sheridan and husband and wife duo Sam and Emma Morgan.

It will be the fourth site for the group, with its portfolio already including Sheridan’s ambitious flagship 8 - which is themed around the number eight - along with another tasting menu concept called Divide and the more casual Craft.

The seasonal tasting menu at Black and Green will be overseen by Sheridan and will offer ‘a modern interpretation of British flavours, centred around local ingredients of the highest quality from micro suppliers and neighbours’.

Priced at £55 for five courses, or £65 for six (with an optional drinks pairing for £55), the menu is described as being more accessible than that served at 8 with dishes including the likes of beef and root tartar; jumbo plaice with buttermilk sauce; chocolate and cherry pie.

The drinks menu will be focused on artisan suppliers from the Midlands and across the UK. The wine list also reflects the ‘core ethos’ of supporting British brands.

Featuring an open kitchen and ‘chef’s bench’, the space is being billed as intimate and convivial.

Sheridan's CV includes head chef and executive chef roles at venues including The Stargazy Inn in Port Isaac, Cornwall, and Sosban in Llanelli, Wales.
