Wine bar group Vinoteca is to close its Marylebone site after 12 years at the location.

The news comes amid a period of significant expansion for the group: a site launched in London’s Borough Yards development earlier this year and founders Charlie Young and Brett Woonton will soon launch their first site outside the capital in Birmingham’s Paradise development.

Young says the Seymour Place site is closing because the group now favours larger sites in prominent locations that attract customers throughout the day.

“We’ve had a fantastic 12 years in Marylebone. The locals welcomed us with open arms back in 2010 when it was only our second site, and we’ve had a great time serving the area. Marylebone has also seen some incredible team members pass through the doors, many of whom have gone on to lead teams at new sites and become an integral part of Vinoteca as a group.”

The Marylebone team have been offered positions at Vinoteca’s other sites, which also include Farringdon, King’s Cross and Chiswick.

“Whilst we’ll hugely miss Marylebone, the great thing about where we are as a company is that we have the ability to keep those fantastic team members who have put huge amounts of energy into the wine bar and make it the local favourite it has been,” says Woonton.

The final day of service at Vinoteca Marylebone will be tomorrow (10 June).
