The market for competitive socialising venues is showing no signs of slowing down with three venues opening in quick succession in the sector.

Next month will see the opening of two venues in the capital – darts-focused concept Oche and golf-based Birdies. They will be followed later by another golf-focused concept, Golf Fang, which will open in Leeds in the Autumn.

Described as a gastro-gaming concept, Oche will open on The Strand on 14 July. Unlike its main competitors, which serve street food, Oche will serve a heightened menu of dishes and sharing plates (pictured below) inspired by cuisines from around the world alongside its digital darts game.

The brand is part of The Social Gaming Group, which also operates Shufl and Social Gaming Solutions. “The Social Gaming Group is a tech company in hospitality to bring shared happiness to our guests and we are delighted to bring our proven Oche concept to London,” says CEO Troy Warfield.

“Oche combines our technologically advanced gaming experience with exceptional curated dishes from Michelin-trained chefs, inspired by cuisines around the World, perfectly paired with uniquely distinctive cocktails, craft beers and wines. It’s not about the game, it’s about the experience."

Opening the following day is Birdies, which will launch in Angel Central on 15 July. A follow up to the company's Battersea location, the new venue will have a nine-hole crazy golf course and a food offer from street food operator Cheeky Burger. Options will include the Elvis - a patty covered in peanut butter and caramelised onions - and a Cheeky vegan burger.

In late autumn Big Fang Collective will open its latest venue in Leeds. The Liverpool-based operator, which owns the Ghetto Golf and Golf Fang brands, is opening a Golf Fang in Redcote Lane, Kirkstall. The venue will have an 18-hole golf course in and serve street food.

It will be the company’s sixth UK venue, joining locations in Birmingham, Newcastle, Liverpool, Sheffield and Glasgow.

“We’re really excited to introduce Golf Fang to the people of Leeds. As a city with a young demographic and a fun atmosphere, Leeds is a great location for the concept,” says Kip Piper, co-founder of Big Fang Collective.

“This venue will feature some of our most popular experiential elements as well as a few new courses. We can’t wait to see how our guests will interact with the new space and we’re looking forward to celebrating with everybody.”

The company was founded by Piper and Daniel Bolger in 2016 when they opened their first Ghetto Golf in Liverpool inside of the 25,000sq ft Cains Brewery. It is looking to expand further with an additional seven already planned to launch over the next two years.
