London-based restaurant group JKS Restaurants is launching an Apprenticeship Academy to address the industry’s staffing challenges.

Kicking off in September, the academy will give successful applicants the opportunity to work across the JKS portfolio of restaurants that includes Brigadiers, Hoppers, Sabor, Kitchen Table, Lyle’s, Berenjak, BiBi, Bao, The Cadogan Arms, The George, Trishna, Gymkhana and  Arcade Food Hall.

Two programmes are being offered, a front of house scheme that will last 12 months, allowing apprentices to work two months at six venues across the business; and a 16-month long back of house scheme where apprentices will work two months at eight venues across the business.

The final two to three months of the schemes will be an end point assessment, where apprentices will have the opportunity to present their newly-learnt skills.

Once a month apprentices will meet with a training manager, who will mentor and guide them through the whole apprenticeship and end of year assessment, says JKS.

Spaces will be limited to 11 apprentices per each program and successful apprentices will be offered full-time roles in the group at the end of the scheme.

Apprentices will receive £18,000 per year and will be able to eat for free in a variety of the restaurants across the group once a quarter as well as having a 50% discount off dining at the venues.

There will also be trips and tours with JKS suppliers to farms, vineyards, distilleries, and breweries and other benefits including retail and takeaway discounts and discounted gym membership.
