A first of its kind event exploring the opportunities in diversifying beyond bricks and mortar restaurants and expanding into new sales channels is being launched.

The Omnichannel Foodservice Conference combines the shared cross-market expertise of William Reed's leading media titles BigHospitality, MCA, and The Grocer.

Being held at the Pullman London St Pancras on 9 November, the conference will hear how leading restaurant brands are finding new customers and building loyalty through omnichannel strategies. These combine delivery and dark kitchens, click & collect, digital apps, direct to consumer offers, loyalty schemes and subscriptions, a wealth of branded products sold in supermarkets, as well as branded restaurants within retail.

It will feature keynote presentations from pioneers of the trend, including Richard Hodgson, the CEO of YO! Sushi owner Snowfox; and Leon's joint managing directors Glenn Edwards and and Ashley Davis.

Hodgson, formerly of Asda, Morrisons, Waitrose and PizzaExpress will discuss how he has transformed conveyor-belt sushi restaurant YO! into a global Japanese food group and consider the wider role foodservice brands and grocery retailers can play in delivering compelling consumer propositions.

Edwards, managing director for restaurants, and Davis, grocery managing director, at Leon will discuss how the company's new ownership under Issa Brothers, owners of the EG forecourt group and Asda has informed and enabled new approaches to reaching customers, including drive thru openings, digital transformation such as customer ordering screens, branded products into retail as well as grocery offers at some of their venues. They will also discuss how, throughout this, the company has stayed true to its founding principles.

Joining them on the line-up will be Thom and James Elliot, co-founders of Pizza Pilgrims, who will share the story of how they introduced a direct-to-consumer ‘pizza in the post’ concept during the pandemic.

The conference will be underpinned by exclusive data from Lumina Intelligence, presented by insight director Blonnie Whist, who will examine consumer perceptions and attitudes around branded restaurant products in grocery.

The first event of its kind to explore this strategy in foodservice, the Omnichannel Foodservice Conference will examine the technology powering digital ordering, rewards and loyalty; how supermarket partnerships are developed; and what is coming next in terms of trends and innovation.

More speakers will be announced soon.
