Caring invites Mayfair to ‘indulge in life’s riches and rarities’ at Bacchanalia

Richard Caring’s upcoming Mayfair restaurant Bacchanalia will employ 180 staff and invite Londoners to ‘indulge in life’s riches and rarities’.

Set to open at One Mount Street towards the end of the year, the venue - which takes its name from booze-fuelled Roman festivals - looks set to be every bit as extravagant as Caring's Sexy Fish restaurant down the road with a dining room full of 2,000-year-old antiques, giant sculptures by Damien Hirst, and a selection of Greek and Roman art. 

The Italian and Greek-inspired menu will be overseen by culinary consultant Athinagoras Kostakos, the chef and owner of a number of high profile restaurants in Greece including Nōema Mykonos. 

He will be supported by joint executive chefs Enis Spacho and Theo Zarikakis, who have between them worked at London restaurants Meraki, Mazi and Temper. 

The drinks side of the business will be led by group wine director Terry Kandylis, who was formerly head sommelier at wine-focused private member's club 67 Pall Mall. 

As befits its name, Bacchanalia will offer ‘the world’s finest wines’ with a focus on cult wines from Italy. 

“Bacchanalia will offer a completely unique dining experience inspired by the opulent Bacchanalian feasts of the ancient world,” says Caprice Holdings managing director Richard Clark. 

“We have an incredible global team at the helm of the restaurant – from the kitchen, to the bar and the restaurant floor who will bring new innovative dishes and experiences to diners.”
