Fred Sirieix and Brian Turner on why hygiene standards should be the top priority for restaurants

Last updated on

P&G Professional has partnered with Fred Sirieix & Restaurant Collective to support restaurateurs as the UK emerges from lockdown.

P&G Professional (the away-from-home division of Procter and Gamble) has teamed up with the UK’s best-loved maître d' and presenter of Million Pound Menu, Fred Sirieix, to help provide support for independent restaurateurs as lockdown restrictions are lifted in the UK.

Fred’s collaboration with P&G Professional and support of the restaurant industry will be amplified through the business’ partnership with Restaurant Collective, the not-for-profit community of restaurateurs and sector professionals championing the independent dining scene in the UK. P&G Professional is supporting the initiative in its bid to level the playing field, giving a louder voice to smaller businesses and providing valuable tools and resources to help them thrive, particularly as the industry emerges from lockdown. P&G Professional and Fred will provide guidance, expertise and mentorship to Restaurant Collective members, helping operators navigate the challenges onset by the pandemic.

To launch this partnership, P&G Professional will be hosting a podcast with Fred Sirieix and Chef and Co-Founder of Restaurant Collective, Brian Turner CBE, who will provide insights, actionable tips and advice on how to make the best first impression both throughout restaurants and front-of-house, with impactful results for businesses. In Coming Clean: How Hygiene is Dining’s Hottest Trend, Fred will share his past experiences on the subject and discuss how restaurateurs can tackle customer cleanliness concerns.

As UK restaurants reopen, customers are looking for stringent health and hygiene standards to make them feel safe when eating out, without compromising the dining experience. P&G Professional wants to ensure that businesses feel supported and equipped to welcome back customers and prosper once again. To help make this possible, the CleanPLUS Experience has been launched – a series of complementary resources, including signage, that establishments can display to indicate their restaurants have been cleaned to a high standard, using P&G Professional’s cohort of trusted brands – such as Fairy Professional, Flash Professional and Microban 24 Professional – and instilling confidence in potential and existing customers.

Berat Onur, UK & Ireland Country Sales Lead at P&G Professional, said: “P&G Professional is committed to supporting the hospitality sector and through our work with Fred Sirieix and Restaurant Collective, we will be able to engage directly with a nationwide community of hospitality professionals, harnessing experience and resources to help restaurateurs navigate these unforeseen circumstances.

“The topic of cleanliness has been thrust into the spotlight due to events of the past fifteen months and we are proud to be able to offer effective solutions for business owners to address these concerns, with initiatives such as the CleanPLUS Experience, so that they can focus on their customers.”

Fred Sirieix, the nation’s best-loved maître d', author and TV presenter, is an outspoken advocate of the hospitality sector. With experience spanning many years at some of the UK’s most prestigious restaurants, he is synonymous with impeccable standards and high-quality service and is passionate about helping the sector to land on its feet as it reopens to increased numbers of customers.

“The hospitality sector has been amongst the hardest hit by the pandemic, leaving many businesses concerned about their future,” Fred Sirieix said. “It’s a long road back from here but, through this partnership with P&G Professional, high standards and a disciplined approach to health and safety, I am confident that we can achieve real impact and support business-owners by helping them to prepare for increasing numbers of guests. As a nation, the UK is proud of its rich culinary heritage and we want to do all that we can to get it back on its feet again.”

Paul Shaw, CEO, Restaurant Collective, said: “The UK hospitality sector is a close-knit community and we want to safeguard its future and help it thrive. By delivering tools and resources from like-minded brands such as P&G Professional, the expertise of industry veterans like Fred Sirieix and our members, our ambition is to help shape the future of the sector, particularly at this challenging time.”
