Indian street food brand Mowgli to open five sites this year
The company, founded in Liverpool 2014 by former barrister, food writer and Indian cookery teacher Nisha Katona, currently operates two sites in its home city, Liverpool, one in Manchester’s Corn Exchange and one in Birmingham Grand Central, which opened late last year.
Mowgli, which is backed by investment company Foresight Group, has reported record trading in December, with like-for-like sales up 11.5%. On the back of this strong trading the company now says that up to five restaurants could be added to its portfolio in the next 12 months.
Its next restaurant will open at the Westgate development in Oxford in early March.
Potential sites in Nottingham, Leeds and another in Manchester are currently being sought, with an eventual move to the capital also part of the strategic plan, it says.
In July 2017 Mowgli received £3.45m in funding from Foresight Group to aid its UK expansion.
