London-based Japanese ramen group Kanada-Ya will open its fourth and fifth restaurants in the capital later this year.

Kanada-Ya Carnaby will open on Foubert’s Place in November with a restaurant located within Ealing’s housing and cinema Filmworks development slated to open the following month.

Carnaby will be a 60-cover restaurant, including 28 seats outside, and will feature an open kitchen with counter dining. It will be open for dine-in and take-away. The 1,571sq ft Ealing restaurant will seat 60 covers with 14 additional spaces outside and will mark the ramen brand’s first site within a purpose-built development.

The restaurants will serve Kanada-Ya’s selection of signature ramen alongside site-specific specials.
“Filmworks will bring a range of high-quality and diverse operators to Ealing, with the retention of the art deco façade and reintroduction of the cinema proving to be a huge draw. We’re excited to be part of that and building relationships with both the Filmworks residents and neighbouring operators,” says Aaron Burgess-Smith, Kanada-Ya UK director.

“Ealing is well placed to accommodate an authentic and respected ramen restaurant and we’re looking forward to serving the sizeable Japanese community in and around the area, many of whom have supported Kanada-Ya since our opening.”

Julia Wilkinson, restaurant director at Shaftesbury says: “We are delighted that Kanada-Ya are opening in Carnaby’s Newburgh Quarter. Their authentic Tonkotsu ramen concept will be a brilliant new addition to the emerging new F&B mix in Newburgh Quarter, providing a complementary offer to INO, Antidote and Ugly Dumpling. Kanada-Ya have long been a cult, destinational operator and there is no doubt the Newburgh Quarter customer is going to be excited about this latest opening.”

Kanada-Ya was founded in Japan in 2009 by Kanada Kazuhiro and opened its first London restaurant in Covent Garden in 2014. It also operates restaurants in Piccadilly and Angel.
