Ross Shonhan, the man behind ramen restaurant Bone Daddies, is doubling up in London with the opening of Flesh and Buns – another Japanese concept, this time specializing in  ‘hirata’ steamed buns – in Covent Garden next month.

Kurt Zdesar, the founder of dim sum chain Ping Pong, has announced plans to open a restaurant in London's Soho this autumn that will focus on serving Nikkei cuisine, the fusion of Japanese cooking with Peruvian ingredients.

London-based Japanese restaurant chain Feng Sushi has announced it is to open its eighth site in West Hampstead later this year focusing on diners eating in; the second opening since serial investor Luke Johnson took a majority stake in the business.

Knightsbridge welcomes Russian and Japanese restaurants

The restaurant scene in Knightsbridge is to be hit by two new sites within a month as Kumo, a recently-opened Japanese sushi and cocktail bar, and Mari Vanna, a Russian restaurant set to open its doors next month, are within walking distance of each other.
