English regions see spike in international tourist numbers

The number of international tourists flocking to English regions has hit a record level with some areas experiencing double digit growth in visitor numbers, latest figures compiled for VisitBritain have revealed.

Holiday visits in February were up 10 per cent, business travel rising by 15 per cent and those visiting friends and relatives up 19 per cent

National tourist board VisitBritain has today welcomed a ‘bumper February’ with the latest figures from the International Passenger Survey (IPS) showing a 14 per cent rise in the number of overseas visitors and a 9 per cent increase in spend.
