Hotels in Aberdeen and Edinburgh outstripped the rest of the UK in 2013 with ‘extraordinary’ RevPAR rates in 2013, while those in London, Newcastle and Birmingham lost out.

The number of people booking rooms directly with a hotel's own website has fallen four per cent in the last year despite efforts by hoteliers to improve websites and grab a share back from online travel agents (OTAs).
