Top award for 'most excellent' Mallory Court
Eden Hotels’ Leamington Spa hotel Mallory Court, has been voted the UK and Ireland’s Most Excellent Hotel at the 27th Cond™ Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence.
The country house hotel beat finalists Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons in Oxfordshire and Summer Lodge Country House and Spa in Dorset to win the top accolade at the annual awards at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower in London on Tuesday.
The awards which accompany the release of the latest hotel guide, are based on the responses from guest nomination forms, guest surveys and reports from the guide’s regional inspectors.
Other winning hotels were The Egerton House Hotel in Knightsbridge, recommended as best London hotel, The Royal Crescent, Bath, voted Most Excellent City Hotel and Ynyshir Hall in Ceredigion, which picked up the award for Most Excellent Country House Hotel.
Rylstone Manor on the Isle of Wight won the best value award while Middlethorpe Hall in Yorkshire was recognised for having outstanding service.
Eden Hotels owner Sir Peter Rigby, managing director Mark Chambers and Mallory Court manager Sarah Baker were at the ceremony to pick up their award.
Chambers said: “Mallory Court has always ranked highly in people’s regard but to achieve such unparalleled national acclaim is a fantastic endorsement of the quality of each individual team member’s contribution to our goals.”

Most Excellent Value for Money - Rylstone Manor on the Isle of Wight.
Most Excellent Small Hotel (under 15 rooms) - The Austwick Traddock, North Yorkshire
Most Excellent City Hotel - The Royal Crescent, Bath
Most Outstanding Service - Middlethorpe Hall, North Yorkshire
Most Excellent Waterside Hotel – joint winners Ashford Castle in Co Mayo and Lakeside Hotel on Lake Windermere in Cumbria.
