Hilton’s London Syon Park Hotel, the second Waldorf Astoria property in the UK, has now opened in West London.

Developed by The Ability Group at a cost of £70m, the 137-bedroom hotel was originally scheduled to launch in November 2010 within the grounds of the Duke of Northumberland’s 200-acre family home, the Grade-I listed Syon House estate.

Executive chef Lee Streeton, formerly of Brown’s Hotel, has created a classic British menu utilising many ingredients grown within the Syon Park estate, for the hotel’s main restaurant The Capability, named after Syon Park’s famed landscape designer Capability Lancelot Brown.

The hotel also features the Peacock Alley Martini Bar, The Terrace, at which High Tea will be served, The Deck, an al fresco rooftop dining space, and Brownies Sundae Bar, another outdoor terraced area specialising in food and drink for children.

Novel features

Guests can also unwind at the on-site spa, gym, swimming pool and sauna, Kallima, where renowned surgeon Alex Karidis is on hand to perform non-surgical beauty treatments.

A Grand Ballroom for up to 450 guests plus state of the art conference facilities also feature at the hotel, alongside a butterfly house situated in the lobby. It is thought the hotel is the first in the UK to employ its own butterfly keeper.

London Syon Park is now the second Waldorf Astoria property in the UK, following Hilton’s acquisition of the five-star Bentley Hotel in Knightsbridge in 2009. It joins a collection of 24 properties around the world, including Trianon Palace in Versailles and the Waldorf Astoria New York.
