For the first time in its 115-year history, cook school Le Cordon Bleu London is offering one student the chance to gain a scholarship worth £30k.

Le Grand Diplôme Scholarship Award is a nine month programme that is available to one student aged between 16 and 19 who has the chance of winning simply by showing their 'passion' for cooking.

The successful applicant will be trained in the disciplines of pâtisserie and cuisine by the Bloomsbury Square school's master chefs, opening doors to a career as a chef, restaurant manager or even a cookbook writer. The scholarship also includes accommodation in London.

Chef Julie Walsh at Le Cordon Bleu London said: “This will be the first time in its 115-year history that Le Cordon Bleu has offered the Le Grand Diplôme UK Scholarship Award along with individual masterclasses. (Applicants) don’t have to be experienced in cooking. All they need is passion and we’ll teach them the rest.”

For a chance to be considered for the scholarship, applicants must post a video clip of no longer than 1 minute and 30 seconds and no larger than 250MB on the Le Cordon Bleu UK Scholarship Award website showing what they know about Le Cordon Bleu and what inspires them.

The winner will be chosen based on their passion and determination, previous culinary experience is not a necessity.

In addition to the scholarship, teaching chefs from Le Cordon Bleu London will be visiting colleges and schools next month to host cookery masterclasses for interested students.
