A retro school-themed pop-up, hosted by The Art of Dining, is coming to the London Borough of Hackney at the end of July.

The After School Club will be held at The Round Chapel Old School Rooms in Clapton.

The restaurant will offer diners a five course gourmet menu based on traditional school dinners which will cost £55.

Dishes will be cooked by former Moro chef Ellen Parr. On her menu will be Alphabet Spaghetti with a Summer Squash and Parmesan Broth with Sage and Walnut Pesto, a Shepherd’s Pie made with Walnut and Pomegranate braised Lamb and served alongside wilted Spinach and a Pine Nut and Anchovy dressing. Cardamom and sour Cherry Spotted Dick with Pistachio Custard and charred Peaches will be a dessert.

The pop-up, which was designed by set designer Alice Hodge, promises an authentic school experience with guests being presented with ties upon their arrival and a pencil case with their cutlery in. The venue will be decorated with blackboards, globes and tables you can draw on.

Hodge said: “It is so exciting for us to see how much the project has grown and there’s no better feeling than for us to see all of our creative efforts come alive during the evenings.

“We’d love The Art of Dining to continue growing so we execute even longer term and large scale events.”

The event will take place between 22nd July and 1st August.
