Restaurant took a group of chefs and restaurant operators to explore some of the best restaurants and bars W1 has to offer.

Bar des Prés

The first international venture from acclaimed French chef Cyril Lignac is an ‘evolved’ version of the smash hit Paris original. The restaurant is billed as a chic, cosmopolitan and vibrant concept that combines French know-how, London energy and Japanese individuality. Lignac is one of his home country’s best-known chefs with book sales topping four million and numerous TV shows under his belt.

Hakkasan Mayfair

Founded in 2001 on an unpromising-looking backstreet by Alan Yau, Hakkasan is unquestionably one of the capital’s most iconic and oft-copied restaurant concepts (its fusion of modern design and traditional Chinese motifs has been replicated across the world with varying degrees of success). Hakkasan Mayfair restaurant is larger than the brand’s original site on Hanway Place seating well over 200. In common with its older sibling, Hakkasan Mayfair holds a star for its refined Cantonese cuisine.

Mr Fogg’s Residence

The polished wooden panelled walls of Phileas J. Fogg’s London residence form the backdrop to his vast and rare collection of artefacts and antiquities. With a cocktail menu ‘as brave and adventurous as Mr Fogg himself’ the venue invites its guests to indulge in a worldly selection of rare spirits and carefully-crafted cocktails. Mr Fogg’s Residence is part of Inception Group, which operates a string of cocktail-focused venues across the capital including Cahoots, Bunga Bunga and the more recently launched Control Room B.
