Harts Group will celebrate the cheese toastie at its new Two Drops bar at Battersea Power Station
Called Two Drops, it will build on the casual offer of The Drop, the group’s neighbourhood bar located at Coal Drops Yard in King’s Cross, and will open in Circus West Village next to the Grade II listed power station on 26 April.
The venue will have 63 covers in total and feature a long bar with stools, high tables of eight designed to be shared, a drinking shelf to stand at, and a reception area with wing back chairs.
Outside will be a sheltered riverside terrace, seating 20.
Executive chef Marvin Jones has developed a food menu that will include variations on the cheese toastie made with jurarégal – a cheese made from raw cow’s milk in the Franche-Comté region of eastern France – with fillings that will include salt beef, pickled gherkin and horseradish; smoked haddock and English mustard; and Marmite and shallot.
A changing special toastie, designed in collaboration with the team’s favourite chefs, brands, or producers, will also be available.
Other dishes will include a seasonal soup or salad; a board of British cheeses; sides dishes of roast herby potatoes; and chicken goujons with a chipotle sweet chilli sauce. Jones has even created a riff on the toastie for dessert, made with dulce de leche, caramelised banana and hazelnut.
Drink options, meanwhile, will include draught beer and Guinness, a short list of wines available by the glass or bottle, and a cocktail list that will focus on classic serves.
“In Two Drops, we are creating a cosy and welcoming bolt hole, where we’ve focused on all the details to make hunkering down here, in day or night time, hungry, thirsty, or both, an absolute delight,” says Crispin Somerville, managing director of The Drop, Quo Vadis and El Pastor.
Harts Group is also opening an El Pastor restaurant at Battersea Power Station opposite the building’s north entrance. The 90-cover restaurant will have a Mexican greenhouse-inspired private dining room and a 60-cover outdoor terrace that will be open all year and will be the fourth El Pastor in the group, joining locations in Soho, Borough Market, and Coal Drops Yard.
