In Operation with...Rosa's Thai Cafe

For the latest video in our series focusing on emerging restaurant groups, we visit Rosa's Thai Cafe, the Thai restaurant brand created by husband-and-wife team Alexander and Saiphin Moore.

Having started life as a market stall on London's Brick Lane in 2006, Rosa's Thai Cafe rapidly grew from one permanent site in Spitalfields in 2008 to seven.

In this study of the business and how it operates, Alexander Moore explains the company's motivation, how it gives autonomy to its managers and its plans for future growth.

"We tried to create a concept that was not like the Thai restaurants that we were disappointed by in this country. We wanted to create a new, modern representation of Thai food in a modern London environment and it grew from there," he says.

While the business, which will open its eighth site in London - in Brixton - next year, has defined plans to grow, Moore says he is not yet ready to sell-up.

"We are still self-funded and independently owned and it's been a great journey," he adds.
