From the 51-100 World's Best Restaurants, to Michelin-starred collaborations, and multi-million pound deals, this week was a big one. Here's our news pick
  • The World's 50 Best Restaurants announced its 100-51 list for 2016​, ahead of the prestigious annual awards ceremony revealing the top 50 on 13 June. Just three UK venues made the cut, including James Lowe's Lyles in Shoreditch, Clerkenwell's St John, and Mikael Jonsson's Hedone in Chiswick
  • News broke of Michelin-starred chefs Alain Ducasse and Tom Kerridge's plans to collaborate​ on a one-off joint lunch at Kerridge's flagship Marlow pub, The Hand & Flowers. Kerridge said it would be one of the "highlights" of his career.
  • Pub and restaurant group The New World Trading Company - from the Living Ventures Group - was sold to private equity firm Graphite Capital for £50​, in a move that includes the brands The Botanist, The Oast House, and the Club House. 
  • The other big sale this week was of the restaurant chain giraffe​, which was snapped up from Tesco's by Harry Ramsden's owner Boparan Restaurant Holdings (BRH) for an undisclosed sum, including the group's 57 sites under the giraffe, Wondertree, giraffe Stop and Burger & Cocktail brands
  • Talking of multi-million pound portfolios, Amaris Hospitality confirmed plans​ to invest an extra £24m in its business, to pay for extensions to the hotels Jurys Inn Oxford, Hilton Garden Inn Dublin, and Jurys Inn Belfast
