The Cuba Mountain Coffee Company has brought its e-commerce gourmet coffee brand, Alma de Cuba, into the foodservice sector.

Product details:

A uniquely smooth but strong, rich and nectarous coffee with a clean taste and medium body, Alma de Cuba is ideal for high-end hotels, bars, coffee shops and restaurants in the UK and overseas.

Alma de Cuba will obtain a steadily increasing supply of top quality Cuban coffee for sale globally. It will also develop micro-regional coffees to sell under the Alma de Cuba brand and as green beans to coffee roasters.

USP:

Up until the 1950s, Cuba was the world's biggest coffee exporter, known for strong but smooth high-end beans. The mountains of Cuba's oriente region are the ideal altitude for shade-grown mountain coffee, while breezes from the Caribbean cool the coffee 'cherries' slowing their development and allowing subtler flavours to mature.

Alma de Cuba breaks new ground by being the first single-origin coffee to be roasted, packed and branded for sale primarily through e-commerce. High-end coffees are usually only sold as green beans to specialist roasters.

Cost:

Alma de Cuba is priced at  £16 per 1kg bag (minimum order of 10 bags) - delivery is free worldwide on orders over £500.

Availability:

The coffee is now available globally. Wholesale customers can also set up an account and order Alma de Cuba coffee online.

Why you should buy it:

Alma de Cuba’s managing director and former Tory Treasury Minister, Phillip Oppenheim, said: “The launch of our consumer e-commerce platform last November has generated strong interest from the foodservice sector.

“Gourmet coffee is rapidly growing globally and Cuba has an appeal all of its own, so we have a product and strategy very much in tune with the times – along with eye-catching point of sale materials.

“Consumers are much more discerning when it comes to good quality coffee with provenance, and it is imperative that foodservice can deliver on this.”
