Family-run restaurant group Rosa’s Thai Café launched its fifth London site in Chelsea last week and will open its sixth in Angel in November.

The announcement of the two news site openings comes after the group received an investment of £500K from private investors via the UK Angel Investment Network.

Owners of the restaurant group husband and wife team Alex and Saiphin Moore currently operate four other Rosa’s sites in in Spitalfields, Soho, Carnaby and Westfield Stratford.

Chelsea site

The new restaurant in Chelsea is located in a Grade II listed building on Fulham Road and has 65 covers.

The interiors have been decorated to combine a contemporary look with kitsch style.

The restaurant is divided into two distinct areas, the bar at the front, which replicates the look expected in a modern Chelsea-style living room, and the restaurant at the back, which focuses on the minimalist décor more typical for Rosa’s.

The bar has a cosy look with feature fireplaces, and the restaurant has a variety of seating including slumber-back dining chairs and banquette. Other features include terrazzo-style flooring, white ceramic brick wall tiling, menus chalked on blackboards and traditional artwork commissioned from Thailand.

Food and drink offering

Rosa’s Thai Café in Chelsea serves a range of authentic, home-cooked Thai food and offers some completely new dishes. Saiphin Moore, who is also head chef at the restaurant, has created a seasonally-changing menu including a number of the favourite dishes from the other sites.

Dishes include spicy grilled pork neck salad with a bittersweet Thai dressing, red curry with palm heart garnished with lime leaves and Thai herbs with a lemongrass marinade, and Northern Thai sausage with a kick of ginger, coriander, chilli and lettuce. Classic curries, noodles and rice dishes will also be available.

Rosa’s in Chelsea is the first of the restaurants to have a dedicated cocktail bar. Cocktails on offer include the Ginger and Pomelo Leaf Martini, which is a mixture of homemade pomelo leaf-infused gin or vodka shaken with fresh ginger, lychee juice, egg white and lemon bitters, and the Chilli Cherry Collins, a mix of Rosa’s homemade pomelo leaf-infused gin shaken with elderflower, lemon, cherry and apple, which is served long and spicy over ice.

There is also an extensive drinks list with red, white and rosé wines available by the glass and carafe, iced teas served in pocket-sized jars, and handpicked Kuki Cha roasted teas. Rosa’s Chelsea is also the first Rosa’s site to offer draught beer from its beer partner Chang.
