Live-fire restaurant Nela to open at The Whiteley in London
Occupying a 10,000sq ft space within London landmark, the new restaurant will feature an open kitchen and a 360◦ centrepiece bar.
Translated as ‘pure’, Nela will combine live-fire cooking with high-quality ingredients, according to the press blurb, and will serve a mix of main dishes and sharing plates inspired by locally and internationally sourced ingredients.
Nela was founded in Amsterdam by chefs Hari Shetty and Ori Geller, who have worked in restaurants including Nobu London, Yaffo-Tel Aviv, and Mr. Porter in Amsterdam in partnership with British entrepreneur Gilad Hayeem, founder of Waverly Group.
“Following the success of our launch in Amsterdam in 2022, we’re very excited to share the Nela experience with our London guests,” say Shetty and Geller.
“Our vision has always been to create a space where we can gather round the fire to share good food and drink with friends in a beautiful setting. The Whiteley is a unique place and, together with our incredible team, we can’t wait to create a destination within a destination for all lovers of great hospitality.”
Nela will join Aegean restaurant Effie at The Whiteley, which is being launched by the team behind London restaurants Pachamama, Chicama, and Zēphyr. Effie will occupy a 5,000sq ft space across two floors within the building, serving a menu inspired by the Aegean coast with a focus on traditional cooking techniques and a menu of char-grilled meats and fish
“With the announcement of our latest tenant, Nela, we are advancing our mission to rejuvenate Bayswater into a premier destination for living, shopping, dining and leisure,” says Adam Goldin, head of UK at C C Land.
“The team’s incredible success in Amsterdam and track record working with globally acclaimed restaurants leaves us with no doubt that the live fire concept will bring a new and exciting dimension to our vibrant offering at The Whiteley.”
Nela London is due to open at The Whiteley in the autumn.
