An altogether more informal affair, London cafe favourite Muriel's Kitchen brings a sumptuous, relaxed feel to its afternoon tea. Served on a mini picnic bench and starting at £15.75 per person, it offers freshly-baked scones, clotted cream, dainty cakes and classic sandwiches, and is available with a tea selection or an array of cocktails.
Charlotte Miller, founder of Muriel's Kitchen, says: "Afternoon teas are one of our best selling items, with many families or friends coming in for celebrations or a relaxed catch up. We value the tradition of an afternoon tea, but to ensure it doesn’t become boring we are always looking for new trends that we could adapt to update our offering."
