Craft Guild of Chefs launches Culinary Academy

The Craft Guild of Chefs​ has launched its first Culinary Academy to aid young chefs who want to compete in national and international events.

The idea behind the Academy is to build up skills among young chefs to ensure the UK can grow as a culinary force in the future.

Academy Team Captain Andy Twells (pictured) said: “We have noticed a decline in competitive skills in the past few years, and as a competition-focused organisation, we wanted to put an infrastructure in place for people to compete at major and international culinary events."

Members of the CGC can join the Academy for free and are given support and training from mentors to help prepare them for competitions.

Academy members will also be able to work their way up through the ranks – from Junior Academy member to Master of the Academy – and gain extra recognition for achieving top awards in competitions and for mentoring other members.

Twells is currently building up a team for the academy`s first event: "Our first goal is to tackle the Culinary Olympics in Erfurt this October where we will be entering three cold live categories,” he said.
