The Apprentice’s Yasmina seeks student chef for restaurant
A placement for an apprentice chef has become available at The Apprentice’s Yasmina Siadatan’s Reading restaurant, Mya Lacarte

Student chefs are being offered the opportunity to train at The Apprentice’s Yasmina Siadatan’s Reading restaurant, Mya Lacarte.

The restaurant, co-owned by Siadatan and brother Matthew, has been taking on apprentices in the kitchen since it opened in 2007, mainly from local colleges Thames Valley University and Henley College.

While Yasmina Siadatan is currently competing on BBC2 for the chance to become Alan Sugar’s apprentice, Mya Lacarte is advertising for their own apprentice to join the kitchen team led by head chef Remy Joly, for up to 2 years as a supplement to their catering qualification.

Matthew Siadatan told BigHospitality they were looking for ideally local students from any college who were particularly dedicated and showed great skill.

“As much as we will show them what to do, the apprentice will have to be able to deal with the pressure and strain of work in a fully functional kitchen,” he said. “They have to be up to scratch; we can’t just take on anyone. The apprentices we’ve had here so far have all been top of the class back at school.”

Mya Lacarte is an eco-friendly, family-run restaurant serving seasonal and local British food ‘with a twist.’ Students interested in applying for an apprenticeship position at the restaurant should call 0118 946 3400.
