Italian chef congress comes to London
Identita, the chef congress usually held in Italy, arrives in London next month with 12 top Italian chefs set to show off their skills to the industry

Twelve of Italy's top chefs, including Carlo Cracco (pictured) and Massimo Bottura, will travel to London next month to demonstrate their skills to members of the industry at the first Identita London chef congress.

UK-based Italian chefs Giorgio Locatelli and Angela Hartnett will join them at the event at Vinopolis on June 29 and 30 along with Danish head chef Rene Redzepi of Noma and Brazil`s Alex Atala of D.O.M.

Over the past five years, the event has only been held in Milan as Identita Golose but has become the ideal place for globally acclaimed chefs to meet to present and exchange ideas.

The London congress will see the selected chefs explain their techniques through the recreation of some of their signature dishes and will aim to show the variety of regional Italian cooking.

An event spokesman said: "London’s dynamic and multi-cultural restaurant scene makes it a natural choice for the expansion of Identita and the UK event aims to highlight the best of contemporary Italian cuisine by demonstrating the work of Italy’s finest chefs to the UK audience."

Italian chefs taking part are:

Massimiliano Alajmo of Le Calandre

Giovanni Santini of Dal Pescatore

Carlo Cracco of Ristorante Cracco

Massimo Bottura of Osteria Francescana

Moreno Cedroni of Madonnina del Pescatore

Ciccio Sultano of Ristorante Duomo
