Restaurant group Megan’s is to share a £5m bonus between its staff members as recognition of the business’ progress.

Its ‘Megansza bonus’ will be shared between current and future general managers, head chefs, assistant general managers and sous chefs, as well as the support office team.

The group was named Emerging Concept 2022 at BigHospitality’s sister title MCA’s annual Retailers’ Retailer Awards in March.

The first Megan’s opened on Chelsea’s Kings Road in 2002 and the business now operates 17 restaurants. The business says it is on track to open in Welwyn Garden City, Richmond and Guilford this year with further plans to open in Weybridge, Crouch End, Farnham, and Bristol – marking its first opening outside of south east England.

“As we continue our rapid journey of growth into 2023 and 2024, our teams remain at the heart of all that Megan’s do,” says Gillian Clements, finance director at Megan’s.

“It is testament to the business that the original head chef and GM of the first location are still with the business. Our teams and the unwavering commitment from them underpins the continued success and is central to our bold and ambitious business plan goals.

“We are delighted to be sharing that success among the teams through the £5m bonus, and I’m excited to see what we’ve achieved by 2024”.

Last year Megan’s revealed plans to grow the business to 22 restaurants by the end of 2022.
