North-west based Greek restaurant Laros is moving southwards and will make its debut in Birmingham this month.

The group, which operates two restaurants in Liverpool and a dark kitchen in Manchester will open on St George’s Street on 12 January serving Greek street food dishes created by owner Nikolaos Fylladitakis.

Its menu will feature its signature chicken and honey or pork and tzatiziki gyros, as well as its souvlaki skewers alongside plant-based gyros options such as courgette fritters, tomato cakes, and falafel, and oyster mushrooms.

“We’re very excited to be bringing Laros to Birmingham for the first time and to introduce the city to authentic Greek street food that we create,” says Fylladitakis.

“Laros was born out of wanting to showcase authentic Greek dishes and produce, and traditional Greek recipes that people eat there every day including the Greek staple of gyros as well as the tomato cakes and courgette fritters.

“This is a huge step for us having a presence outside of the North West and myself and the team couldn’t be more delighted to have landed in Birmingham; a bustling city that’s bursting with an exciting and diverse culinary scene.”

Laros launched on Liverpool’s Bold Street in May 2021, and within six months had expanded into Manchester, opening a dark kitchen in Ardwick. In September 2022, it opened its second Liverpool restaurant in south Liverpool’s Mossley Hill.
