Pan-Asian QSR group Chopstix is to open its first airport location later this month as it pushes ahead with plans to open 30 new venues this year.

The group will open a Chopstix Noodle Bar in the departure lounge at London Luton Airport on 29 May, and describes the move as 'an important strategic step' in its expansion plans.

“There is such momentum behind the brand, and the launch of our first airport site feels like a real watershed moment,” says Jon Lake, managing director at Chopstix Group.

“Operating in high footfall transport hubs not only drives revenue, but grows brand awareness internationally, so we’re delighted to have secured this location at London Luton Airport.

“With best-in-class operational processes and a flexible concept, new Chopstix sites are delivering payback on investment at an industry-leading speed.

“We know how well the brand does in a broad spectrum of formats, so we expect this to be a high-performing site, and we’re on the lookout for additional airport locations.”

Chopstix was established in Camden Market in 2002 by entrepreneurs Sam Elia and Menashe Sadik and now comprises locations across the UK and Ireland through a mix of company owned and operated locations, and franchise sites run through partnerships with the likes of Sparta Foods, Welcome Break and Applegreen.

The group comprises Chopstix Noodle Bar, Yangtze and Chozen Noodle brands, the latter of which it acquired earlier this year.

Back in March, Chopstix, which claims to be the UK’s largest Asian quick service restaurant group, announced plans to open 30 new venue this year after reporting record revenues.
