Restaurateur Hidir Dersuniyelioglu will launch a Mediterranean restaurant on Bath’s Walcot Street later this year.

Located in St. Michael’s Church House - a Grade II-listed building with a high vaulted roof and stained glass windows - Pomegranate will be focused on Greek and Turkish cuisine.

The site most recently traded as part of South West-based Italian restaurant group Aqua Restaurants.

Handled by Christie & Co, the deal leaves Aqua Restaurants - which is not to confused with Hutong, Shiro, Luci, Aqua Kyoyo and Aqua Nueva operator Aqua Restaurant Group - with a total of two locations.

“Our vision for Pomegranate is to create a culinary haven where the vibrant flavours of the Mediterranean come to life,” says Dersuniyelioglu.

“We are deeply passionate about showcasing the rich tapestry of Greek and Turkish cuisines, and we believe that Pomegranate will be a true celebration of these culinary traditions. With our carefully crafted menu, we aim to transport our guests to the sun-drenched shores of the Mediterranean, offering an unforgettable dining experience and warm hospitality that these cultures are renowned for.”

Nicholas Calfe, director at Christie & Co which handled the sale, adds: “The sale of Aqua in Bath is a clear indication of the demand we have for leasehold hospitality businesses, particularly in desirable locations. We were pleased to achieve the full asking price and look forward to seeing the new concept come to life.”
