Berkshire-based restaurant group WSH Restaurants, which is behind The Woodspeen, is set to open a new restaurant in Berkshire this winter.

Called The Boxford, it will be located in the village of Boxford, in Berkshire, in a new-build property on site that was formerly occupied by The Bell at Boxford, a Victorian pub that had fallen into disrepair.

Stretching to seven metres in height, the restaurant will have a sustainably thatched pitch roof and use a palette of natural materials with muted tones ‘so that the building sits subtly and comfortably within its village context’.

Due to open in November, The Boxford will have a more relaxed feel The Woodspeen and will be an all-day family-friendly concept described as being as much a destination for morning coffee as it is for an intimate evening meal.

“This is a project with a real community focus,” says managing director Alessandro Fasoli.

“We made a promise to deliver a venture that is sustainable and accessible to all, so we’re bringing a new all-day produce-led dining concept to life here, something more relaxed that’s a great fit for families and something which, similarly to The Woodspeen, will offer full-time employment opportunities and high quality career progression for local people.”

Located in a former run-down country pub, The Woodspeen was opened in 2014 and serves a seasonal menu showcasing produce grown in Berkshire.
