KFC UK has moved into the omnichannel retail space with the launch of a new, limited-edition popcorn flavour.

Created in partnership with Proper Snacks, makers of Propercorn and Properchips, the KFC Popcorn Chicken Popcorn is flavoured with the fried chicken giant’s staple herb and spice mix.

It is vegan and HFSS compliant, weighing in at 90 calories per serving.

The limited-edition snack will roll into Co-op shops from today (21 August) in impulse (rsp: £1/20g) and sharing packs (rsp: £1.80/70g).

It will subsequently hit Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Asda shelves in late August.

Cassandra Stavrou, founder of Proper Snacks, said the partnership was ‘a huge moment’ for her brand.

“Our take on the finger-lickin’ classic brings a little extra seasoning to your go-to snack,” she said.

Kate Wall, KFC’s innovation director, added: “We pride ourselves on doing the unexpected, which is why we’re so excited to be partnering with Proper Snacks.

“This partnership is about combining two iconic products to bring the world Popcorn Chicken… Popcorn, so that people can enjoy our distinctive taste in new ways.

“This collaboration pushes the boundaries of taste and texture in a fun and exciting way and we can’t wait for our fans to try it.”
