Indian street food inspired restaurant brand Chai Green will open its fifth venue this autumn.

The Midlands-focused group will open a restaurant in Sheffield on London road, outside of the city centre, that will serve an all-day menu of Asian dishes with a twist.

The new venue will join the group’s other restaurants in Hodge Hill, Stratford Road and Alum Rock in Birmingham as well as one in Cardiff, which is a franchise.

Chai Green serves an ‘east meets west' menu that includes breakfast dishes such as a desi breakfast of masala omelette with channa, keema or masala beans, and paratha, puri or toast; and a full English. Daytime dishes, meanwhile, include lamb keema or chicken tinga nachos; a masala omelette bagel; ‘Frankie rolls’; samosa, aloo tikki, and papri chaat; ninja fries; and chicken shawarma wrap.

Chai Green was launched in Birmingham in 2020 and was named Restaurant of the Year in the 2022 Birmingham Awards. In May this year it announced it was looking to open 30 new sites over the next few years as part of a franchise deal, with London a key target area.

The group said it had identified more than 20 stores or territories in inner and outer London for expansion.
