Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury will once again have a restaurant three years after its dining spaces closed.

The new restaurant will be led by Liam Tinsley, former head chef of Shrewsbury restaurant Beefy Boys and who has worked at local venues including the Peach Tree, Lion & Pheasant, River Town and the Mytton & Mermaid.

Located on the second floor at Theatre Severn it is set to reopen early next month serving two and three-course ‘bistro style’ pre-theatre menus. Menu items will include chicken liver parfait on gingerbread with apricot; risotto with wild mushroom and truffles; and pork belly with apple and sweetcorn.

“I am so excited to be taking on this new venture at the fantastic Theatre Severn,” says the chef.

“With the restaurant just steps away from your seats, and a balcony offering some of the best river views in Shrewsbury, I am thrilled to be able to offer theatregoers a chance to dine at the venue again.

“With the option of two or three courses we will ensure customers are seated, served, and finished just in time for the show, so you never have to worry about missing the main event.”

Theatre Severn is owned and managed by Shropshire Council, which put a tender out for a new operator last year, for which Tinsley was successful.
“Following a long absence we are delighted to be able to offer pre-show dining experiences again,” says venue and programming manager David Jack.

“We know how much our customers have missed the convenience of being able to enjoy a meal at the venue just steps from their theatre seats and we’re very excited to see what Liam has lined up on the menu”.
