Luxury Cornwall hotel and spa build under way
CMR Leisure have begun development of a luxury boutique hotel and spa in rural Cornwall

The £30m build for a new luxury 65-bedroom hotel and spa is now underway in an area of outstanding natural beauty near St.Austell, Cornwall.

The Cornwall Hotel Spa and Estate is the brainchild of owner and developer CMR Leisure, but will be run by independent hotel group, Bespoke Hotels.

The hotel itself will be an extension of an existing nineteenth Century country house, with a state-of-the-art spa and 60 luxury detached woodland homes on-site. The main house will be converted into a boutique hotel consisting of a fine dining restaurant and family bistro, alongside the elegant bedrooms of which most will have generous balconies.

The old stables on the estate will be converted into a stylish spa with an infinity-edged pool, drench showers, sauna, steam room, high-tech treatment rooms, gym, tennis courts and juice bar.

The detached woodland private homes have been designed to feature substantially glazed front elevations with great views, balconies and high-spec fixtures and fittings.

Richard Whitehouse of CMR Leisure says: “The Cornwall Hotel Spa & Estate is a very exciting concept, and we are extremely proud of what we are creating. Conservation is at the very heart of our proposals.

“The estate’s historic setting and natural beauty is our greatest asset. It has been the inspiration for the architecture and interiors, and it is a very important part of what The Cornwall will be able to offer to its guests and home owners. This sensitive approach will ensure The Cornwall Hotel Spa & Estate will be a modern luxurious 21st century hotel, whilst retaining the beauty, charm and integrity of its historic and unspoilt rural setting.”

The Cornwall Hotel, Spa and Estate is due for completion in December 2009, and is already taking sales enquiries for the woodland homes.
