Considerate Hoteliers launch new award chances
Hotels and guesthouses have more chances to win at the Considerate Hoteliers Awards 2008 with the launch of two new categories

The Considerate Hotelier of the Year Awards have announced the introduction of two new categories this year as they open for entries from hotels and guesthouses across the UK.

Joining the prestigious award for Considerate Hotel of the Year, currently held by the Cavendish Hotel, will be categories for Green Team of the Year, and Green Champion of 2008.

CHA Association Secretary John Firrel, said: “The three 2008 CHA award categories offer entrants the chance to flex their environmental and social responsibility muscles, to play to their strengths and to tell the world what they have achieved.

“There is no black art in any of the categories (only green) and all are well within the grasp of most responsible hotels and hoteliers, who deserve recognition for their sterling efforts in helping make this planet more sustainable and better place for future generations.”

The awards recognise and reward those hotels and guesthouses with the highest environmental and Corporate Social Responsibility performance, and the introduction of two new categories will enable the CHA to congratulate even more establishments.

The Green Team of the Year award will go to a hotel or guesthouse’s Green Team that has enjoyed making the biggest difference in 2008, while the Green Champion of the Year accolade is a recognition for an individual working within the hotel industry generally, nominated by his or her colleagues for their dedication to inspire others to raise the Green standard.

Entries for the awards are now being accepted, and forms can be found on the CHA website. The closing date for entries this year is January 31, with the winners being announced at a gala lunch at the Cavendish Hotel on April 27.
